Non-linear Dynamics of Flexural Disc Transducers

چکیده
Flexural transducers are well suited for power emission in fluids, thanks to their low mechanical impedance. Their performance is nevertheless compromised by the occurrence of non-linearities stemming from high-deflection andlor high electric field. This experimental work catalogs typical alterations of the transducers' dynamics resulting specifically from high electrical field non-linearities. We use depoled transducers to model efficient ones under high electrical field conditions. The depoled transducer are not subject to purely structural non-linearities as the d flection remains low but still exhibit electric-fieldrelated non-linearities. Results show that the response of the transducers can u dergo major qualitative changes as the strength of the excitation increases : hysteresis cycles, super-harmonic excitation sharp saturation of the displacement, non periodic response of the transducer to an AC forcing tension and unstable transfer of energy between the spectral components of the displacement signal. Practical implications include transducers' design, model parameter fitting and second harmonic generation.

Patient-specific spine models. Part 1: Finite element analysis of the lumbar intervertebral disc--a material sensitivity study.
If patient-specific finite element models of the spine could be developed, they would offer enormous opportunities in the diagnosis and management of back problems. Several generic models have been developed in the past, but there has been very little detailed examination of the sensitivity of these models' characteristics to the input parameters. This relationship must be thoroughly understood...
متن کاملEffect of axial load on the flexural properties of an elastomeric total disc replacement.
STUDY DESIGN Twelve Cadisc-L devices were subjected to flexion (0°-6°) and extension (0° to -3°) motions at compressive loads between 500 N and 2000 N at a flexural rate between 0.25°/s and 3.0°/s. OBJECTIVE To quantify the change in flexural properties of the Cadisc-L (elastomeric device), when subjected to increasing magnitudes of axial load and at different flexural rates. SUMMARY OF BAC...
متن کاملThe Dynamic Performance of Flexural Ultrasonic Transducers
Flexural ultrasonic transducers are principally used as proximity sensors and for industrial metrology. Their operation relies on a piezoelectric ceramic to generate a flexing of a metallic membrane, which delivers the ultrasound signal. The performance of flexural ultrasonic transducers has been largely limited to excitation through a short voltage burst signal at a designated mechanical reson...
متن کاملInvestigating the Dynamics of a Ball-Spring Autobalancer in a Rotor with Non-Linear Bearings
Although the traditional automatic ball balancer (ABB) has numerous advantages, it has two major deficiencies, i.e., it has a limited balance stable region and it increases the vibration amplitude of the rotor at transient state. These deficiencies limit the applicability of ABBs. In this regard, a new type of ABB called “the Ball-spring autobalancer” has been proposed to resolve the mentioned ...
متن کاملNon-Linear Inflationary Dynamics based on the Concept of Missing Money in Iran
In this research, non-linear inflationary dynamics based on the concept of missing money is studied using the threshold autoregressive models based on seasonal data of the time interval (1990:04-2016:07) for the economy of Iran. The finding of the research shows that simple and Divisia liquidity growth variables are determined as threshold variables, and inflation reacts to changes in the growt...
